Current position
Clare Murray is currently a Lecturer (Education) within the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast. She is also a registered pharmacist, continuing to work within the Primary Care setting. She is responsible for the teaching of clinical and prescribing skills to undergraduate pharmacists and in the preparation of students for periods of experiential learning.
Education
Clare attended the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast graduating with a First Class Honors in 2005. She registered as a pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland in 2006. In 2018, she obtained her independent prescribing annotation. She completed her MSc in Advanced Clinical Pharmacy Practice in 2020 from Queen’s University Belfast. She completed her PGCHET, Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in 2024 from Queen’s University Belfast.
Research area
Her research focuses on understanding the teaching and assessment of prescribing skills with undergraduate students. She has a particular focus on the teaching of clinical reasoning and students understanding of this as a concept. She also has an interest in the core skills related to the role expansion of pharmacists and the utilization of prescribing skills with the prescribing of fluids and the pharmacists role in this being an example.
