Special Interest Group (SIG 2.0): Advancing Interoperability in Closed-Loop Medication Management

Call for Participants

The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists is seeking hospital pharmacists to join the SIG 2.0 working group on hospital pharmacy automation and interoperability. This group will play a central role in defining, shaping, and validating next-generation interoperability across the medication management process in European hospitals.

Who we are looking for (Hospital Pharmacist profile)

We are seeking hospital pharmacists with strong clinical and operational experience in hospital medication management systems, who are motivated to actively contribute to interoperability development across Europe.

Clinical & Operational Expertise
  • Hands-on experience in hospital pharmacy practice
  • Deep understanding of medication use processes (prescribing, validation, dispensing, administration, monitoring, inventory)
  • Familiarity with clinical safety and workflow optimisation in hospital settings
Digital & Interoperability Mindset
  • Experience or strong interest in digital health, health IT systems, or pharmacy automation
  • Understanding of or willingness to engage with interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR-based environments)
  • Ability to translate clinical workflows into structured, system-agnostic requirements
Analytical & Collaborative Skills
  • Capacity to critically analyse workflows and identify inefficiencies or risks
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary or cross-functional projects
  • Ability to collaborate constructively with industry and technical stakeholders
Strategic Contribution
  • Interest in shaping European-level standards for medication management interoperability
  • Ability to prioritise real-world clinical needs and patient safety outcomes
  • Engagement in consensus-building within a multi-stakeholder environment
Commitment & Availability
  • Availability to participate actively throughout the SIG 2.0 lifecycle (2026–2027)
  • Willingness to attend structured meetings, contribute to documentation, and support validation activities
  • Commitment to collaborative, neutral, and non-commercial working principles

Selection process

  • Candidates are invited to submit a CV and a motivation letter
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a virtual interview
  • Final selection will be confirmed by the SIG co-chairs
