1. Current Status, Position

Matthias G. Vossen (MD) is an intern (“Assistenzarzt”) at the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine of the Department of Medicine I (Medical University of Vienna). He is a member of the „European society of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases”, the “Östereichische Gesellschaft für Infektionskrankheiten und Tropenmedizin”, the “Paul-Ehrlich-Gesellschaft” and the “Österreichische Gesellschaft für Antimikrobielle Therapie” as well as the “Österreichische Gesellschaft für Innere Medizin”. He is a regular consultant in infectious diseases.

2. Education

Matthias G. Vossen studied medicine in Budapest and Vienna. He has performed malaria research in Bangladesh and Vienna before his employment at the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine of the Department of Medicine I (Medical University of Vienna) where he is currently finishing his specialty training in medicine and his PhD thesis on in-vitro modelling of pharmacokinetic processes during renal replacement therapy.

3. Research Area

Dr. Vossen has specialized on pharmacokinetics of antimicrobial substances during renal replacement therapy. He is also performing research in the field of wound care with a special focus on autologous fibrin products and extended release of antimicrobial substances to infected wounds. Matthias G. Vossen has received awards from the “Östereichische Gesellschaft für Infektionskrankheiten und Tropenmedizin” and the “Paul-Ehrlich-Gesellschaft”.
