Current Status, Position

Prof Dr Jan Schildmann is a Physician and Director of the Institute for History and Ethics of Medicine at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He is also Head of the clinical ethics unit at the university hospital.

Education

Prof Dr Schildmann studied medicine at Charité University Berlin. He obtained a Master degree in Medical Law and Ethics at King’s College London. He is a specialist in internal medicine and worked for several years in medical oncology.

Research Area

Prof Dr Schildmann’s research area focuses on clinical research and empirical ethics. He is also interested in ethics and communication in medicine.
