1. Current Status, Position

Dr Ruth Edwards (EdD, BSc, MSc, PgCert, MRPharmS, FFRPS, SFHEA) is Senior Lecturer and MPharm Course Leader.

2. Education

Dr Ruth Edwards graduated with a BSc (Hons) Pharmacy from Robert Gordon Institute of Technology in 1989 and registered as a pharmacist with RPSGB in 1990. Her early professional experiences were in community pharmacy and she completed an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy in 2001. Since 1999, she has worked as an academic pharmacist, completing a PgCert in Tertiary Level Teaching and develops and delivers teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students. In 2013, she was awarded a Doctor of Education for research into students’ learning practices.

3. Research Area

Dr Ruth Edwards’ main research focus is educational research, with a particular interest and expertise in using qualitative methods in this field. In 2013, she completed a Doctorate of Education using artefacts to explore pharmacy students’ learning practices. Dr Edward has a specific interest in researching teaching, learning and assessment and has published studies on reflective learning, communication and consultation skills.
