1. Current Status, Position
Mr Fernandes (MSc, DipClinPharm, BPharm[Hons]) is Chief Pharmacist/Clinical Director – King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
2. Education
Mr Fernandes attained a First Class Honours degree from London School of Pharmacy and trained as a hospital pharmacist gaining a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, MSc in Pharmacy Practice and Independent Prescribing qualification.
He has been Trust Chief Pharmacist for over 10 years managing Pharmacy departments in acute district general hospital, teaching hospitals and tertiary specialist centres. He has over 20 years of total NHS experience which includes various management and specialist clinical pharmacist posts. Mr Fernandes won two national HSJ Awards for developing innovative Pharmacy services that has benefited patient care through collaboration with health and social care and delivering best practice. He informs national pharmacy workforce strategy and currently Subject Matter Expert on the Pharmacy and Medicines workstream in the South East London STP.
3. Research Area
His research is focused on competencies required for pharmacy leadership and management and particular expertise in service redesign, innovation and workforce evaluation and development.
