Current Status, Position

Dr Panagiotis Petrou is currently Officer at the Health Insurance Organisation, Cyprus. Dr Petrou is also a visiting professor of Pharmacoepidemiology-Pharmacovigilance at the Pharmacy School of the University of Nicosia.

Education

Dr Panagiotis Petrou studied pharmacy at the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki and became a licensed pharmacist in 2000. He completed an MBA with specialisation in Human Resource Management in 2009. In 2016, he obtained a PhD in Financial and Economic Management of Health Services, with a focus in pharmacoeconomics. He previously worked in Novartis as a product manager in the Transplantation and Immunology business unit for 8 years, before joining the Health Insurance Organisation.

Research Area

Dr Petrou’s research focuses on economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals, health technology assessment, value-based pricing, utilisation of pharmaceuticals, shortages of medicines and the impact of co-payment on health services.
