WORKSHOP 3: Therapeutic innovations in the area of antimicrobials

1. Current Status, Position:

Dr McCaig is a senior lecturer and teaching group leader for clinical pharmacology and therapeutics at the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences. She has many years experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is also Pharmacy Practice Research team leader.

2. Education

She graduated in 1975 following studies in Pharmacology at the University of Edinburgh and then went on to obtain her PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology in 1978 graduating from the University of Strathclyde.

3. Research area

Dr McCaig has a special research interest in antimicrobial usage. She has experience in educational research methodologies and in particular interventions to changing practice and antimicrobial use. In addition, she has vast experience in research at numerous universities in New Zealand, USA and the UK.
