1. Current Status, Position

James Kent is currently the Regional Procurement Specialist for London and the East of England. This post sits under the Specialist Pharmacy Service which provides professional medicines advice to the NHS. The main aim of this role is ensuring patients get access to the medicines they need that have been procured in the most cost-effective manner possible.

2. Education

James Kent studied pharmacy at the University of Manchester. He later completed an MSc in pharmacy practice at the School of Pharmacy in London. His most recent qualification related to procurement in preparation for his current post.

3. Research Area

Hospital pharmacy procurement doesn’t allow for much specialisation but for many years James Kent’s main area of interest has been biosimilars, both the science that underpins them and what needs to be done to facilitate their adoption.
