Current Status, Position

Alistair Gray is the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist at East Lancashire Hospitals, based in Blackburn. He is responsible for leading and developing the clinical service in his Trust. In recent years this has also involved working in the wider health economy to spread good practice and innovative service developments.

Education

Mr Gray studied at Sunderland Polytechnic and gained a First Class Honours Degree in Pharmacy in 1988. Following his pre-registration year with Boots the Chemist he qualified as a pharmacist in 1989. In 2008 he completed an Advanced Diploma in Clinical and Health Services Pharmacy at the University of Manchester. He received the 2012 Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s ‘Medicines Safety Award’ for his work in ‘Transfer of Care’. In September 2016 Alistair received the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s ‘Leadership in Pharmacy’ award for his work innovating ‘Refer-to-Pharmacy’. In 2018 he completed Haelo’s Improvement Science for Leaders and AQuA’s Advanced Improvement Practitioner. He is co-author of the Clinical Pharmacy Pocket Companion and the Injectable Drugs Guide.
