Context:

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring aims to individualise therapeutic regimen. Computer technology has facilitated this process radically. Whereas in the 60th and 70th years of the last century linear regression of the logs of peaks and trough levels was useful at that time, nowadays Bayesian techniques has improved the process of analysing plasma samples and calculation of drug doses.

But there are very few computer programmes available, and sometimes they are not really user friendly. In this workshop the participants are invited to bring their own laptop and during the workshop the computer programme MW/PHARM will be demonstrated and will be used by each participant to work with.

This workshop is limited to 30 people and interested parties should sign‐up during the registration process and pay a deposit of 20 euro. The deposit will be refunded to the participants after they have attended the session. The reason for this deposit is to ensure the attendance of those who signed up since there is limited space. Interested parties may also check at the congress centre registration desk to determine if there is any space available.

Teaching goals:

  • to know how to perform Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM)
  • to have an overview of the programme MW/PHARM and simple use of it in practice
  • to learn the theoretical aspects of TDM

Learning objectives:

At the end of the seminar, the participants will be able to have a theoretical background of the aims of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and will be able to perform a simple dose calculation using MW/PHARM.
