1. Current Status, Position

  • Head of Pharmacy Education, Research & Development, NHS Lothian Pharmacy Service Edinburgh;
  • Honorary Senior Lecturer, Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde Glasgow.

2. Education

Following graduation from Heriot Watt University Edinburgh (1983), Mrs Kinnear completed professional registration in hospital and industry. After some years as a hospital pharmacist, she completed MSc in Clinical Pharmacy at University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (1990). In 1991 she started a new post as teacher-practitioner with NHS Lothian and University of Strathclyde and at that time she studied towards Advanced Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Teaching at University of Leeds (1993). She developed specialist practice as clinical pharmacist in gastroenterology. Her current post is as Head of Education, Research & Development in NHS Lothian which includes managing a small team of pharmacists and pharmacy technician who co-ordinate and deliver education and training to pharmacists, pharmacy support staff, junior medical staff and students.

3. Research Area

Her research focuses on Health Services Research in Pharmacy Practice which includes development of tools to support clinical pharmacy practice and evaluation of evidence based practice .
