1. Current Status, Position

Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Professor of Clinical Pharmacy

 2. Education

Professor Fitzpatrick graduated with first class honours degree from Manchester University in 1974 and registered as a Pharmacist in 1975.  He was awarded a PhD from Manchester University in 1978. He became a common purpose graduate in 1996, and made a fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2007.

  • 2003 – present: Clinical Director of Pharmacy/Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Wolverhampton University.
  • 1991 – 2003: Clinical Director of Pharmacy/Senior Lecturer, North Staffordshire Hospital, and Keele University.  In addition I was also Director of R&D 1995-2002.
  • 1983 – 1991: Principal Pharmacist, North Staffordshire Health Authority.
  • 1980 -1983: Staff Pharmacist Clinical Services/Lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy Oldham Health Authority and Manchester University.
  • 1979 – 1980: Pharmacist Tameside Health Authority.
  • 1978 – 1979: Community Pharmacy Manager Manchester.

3. Research Area

Professor Fitzpatrick has a special interest in Medicines Management and pharmacy practice research, with over 100 publications, including research papers, reviews, conference abstracts and book chapters. His current areas of research interest are pharmacoepidemiology and the impact of I.T and robotics on practice.
