Seminar 1 – Change management in clinical pharmacy

1. Current Status, Position

Since 2005 I have held the post as Head of Clinical Pharmacy at the Copenhagen Corporation of Hospitals. From January 2007 the Copenhagen Corporation of Hospitals merged with two other hospital corporation pharmacies to form a new, enlarged Capital regional pharmacy, with the task of providing pharmacy services for 14 acute hospitals.

2. Education

I completed my MSc in Pharmacy at the Royal Danish School of Pharmacy in 1982. I worked for one year in a community pharmacy in Denmark, before leaving for the UK in 1989. Here I became a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, GB.

I was then employed 8 years as a clinical pharmacist and dispensary manager in the public sector hospital in the UK. On returning to Denmark in 1998 to work for the Pharmacy at the Copenhagen Corporation of Hospitals, as a clinical pharmacist, specialising mainly in the area of intensive care.

3. Research Area

I am one of the four members of the top-level management team with responsibility for Clinical pharmaceutical services, a department with 200 staff located at 14 different hospitals.

Help us provide an overview of the scale of the problem, as well as insights into the impact on overall patient care.

Our aim is to investigate the causes of medicine and medical device shortages in the hospital setting,  while also gathering effective solutions and best practices implemented at local, regional, and national levels.
