1. Current Status, Position

Dr. Nicolas Widmer is currently chief pharmacist of the Pharmacy of the Eastern Vaud Hospitals, an interhospital pharmacy in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Dr. Nicolas Widmer is also Privatdozent at the University of Geneva and operational director of its Specialised Centre for Emergency and Disaster Pharmacy. In the Swiss Armed Forces, he is also in charge of the specialised training of aspiring pharmacy officers.

2. Education

Dr. Nicolas Widmer studied Pharmacy at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland and became pharmacist in 2000 and hospital pharmacist in 2005. In 2006 he obtained a PhD in Life sciences at the University of Lausanne for his work on the clinical pharmacokinetics of an anticancer agent. He then headed the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring unit at the Clinical Pharmacology Service of the Lausanne University Hospital until 2013, before joining the Pharmacy of the Eastern Vaud Hospitals. He also followed a military career and obtained the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2019.

3. Research Area

Dr. Nicolas Widmer research focuses on the clinical pharmacokinetics of anticancer drugs, on therapeutic drug monitoring and, more recently, on emergency and disaster pharmacy.
