Current Status, Position

Prof Dr Patricia van den Bemt is currently a Hospital Pharmacist in the UMCG in Groningen, The Netherlands. As head of patient care, she is responsible for clinical pharmacy activities. As a professor in clinical pharmacy, her research line focuses on the role of the clinical pharmacist in improving patient safety.

Education

Prof Dr van den Bemt studied Pharmacy at the University of Utrecht, graduating in 1991. She was trained as a hospital pharmacist from 1994 to 1998 and obtained her PhD in 2002 for her work on Medication Safety in Hospitalised Patients. She was registered as an epidemiologist in 2009 and as a clinical pharmacologist in 2012.

Research Area

Prof Dr van den Bemt’s research focuses on the role of the clinical pharmacist in improving patient safety. Medication reconciliation and review, IT solutions to assist the clinical pharmacist and improving safety of antithrombotic medication have her attention.
