1. Current Status, Position

Since 2017, Dr Catherine Tuleu is Professor in Paediatric Pharmaceutics at UCL School of Pharmacy, UK. She is the founder and chairperson of the European Paediatric Formulation Initiative (EuPFI), a consortium working in a pre-competitive way on paediatric drug formulations. Her recently founded spin out company [senCeuTics Ltd] is focused on preclinical taste evaluation and paediatric formulation development.

2. Education

Prof. Dr. Catherine Tuleu is a UK-qualified French pharmacist. She graduated from Universite Paris V and obtained her PhD with distinction from Universite Paris XI.

3. Research Area

Working closely with paediatric hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, Dr Tuleu’s work underpinning ethos is to ensure that paediatric formulations are effective, safe and of quality, bringing science into practice.

Her research is inherently translational, ranges from formulation, process and methodology development to clinical implementation, integrating the following themes: children centric excipient research; reformulation and repurposing for better medicines for children; development of innovative age appropriate dosage forms (especially for under 5s) and sensory pharmaceutics (acceptability and in vitro/in vivo taste assessment).
