Current Status, Position

Assistant Prof Dr Inese Sviestina is currently a Hospital/Clinical Pharmacist at the Children Clinical University Hospital in Riga. She is responsible for clinical pharmacy activities. Dr Sviestina is also assistant professor and has a position of a leading researcher in clinical pharmacy at the Faculty of Medicine University of Latvia. She is also a member of the EAHP Scientific Committee and the ECDC Advisory Forum.

Education

Assistant Prof Dr Sviestina studied Pharmacy at the Riga Stradins University (RSU), she obtained a PhD (Dr. pharm) in Clinical Pharmacy at RSU for her work on antimicrobial stewardship and surgical prophylaxis. She also has MA in Music and Theory of Culture.

Research Area

Assistant Prof Dr Sviestina research focuses on antimicrobial stewardship and consumption analysis as well as on medicines use in children including the role of different excipients.
