1. Current Status, Position

Jacqueline Surugue (Diplôme d’Etat de Pharmacien de la Faculté de Pharmacie) is Chief of the Pharmacy Department of Centre Hospitalier Georges Renon, a 1300 beds hospital in the city of Niort, Deux Sèvres, France, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Angers. She is an elected member to the Board of the Hospital Section Council of the French National Order for Pharmacists.

2. Education

Mrs. Surugue graduated from the University of Tours, on the Loire Valley, then specialized in Pharmacology, Toxicology and Management in Paris University. She held the position of President of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (2002 -2009) and of President of the Hospital section of the International Federation of Pharmacy (2010-2014). She co-chaired the World Basel Statements conference in hospital Pharmacy in 2008, organized the revision of these statements during FIP congress in Bangkok, Thaïland in 2014, and was associated to the elaboration of the EAHP European Statements. From 2007, she was involved in the IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise), an initiative promoting interoperability in health information systems, and is a co-founder of IHE Europe branch. She has been co-Chair for Users of IHE Pharmacy Group and IHE Europe Steering Committee, and is part or IHE European Affairs on behalf of EAHP.  

3. Research Area

Through IHE, Mrs. Surugue is striving to improve information exchange between healthcare providers and organizations that depend on pharmacy-related workflows and processes. She is part of the EU Commission eHealth Stakeholders Group on behalf of EAHP (from now on, on behalf of IHE). As past President of the FIP Hospital Section, she helps disseminate the revised Basel Statements among countries in the world.
