1. Current Status, Position

Dr Pharand is associate Dean Undergraduate Studies and Clinical Pharmacist at the Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinic.

2. Education

Dr Pharand completed a Baccalaureate in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) in 1989 at the Université de Montréal, followed by a Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) in 1991 at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, in Philadelphia, USA. She then completed a two-year fellowship in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, USA and finally and a one-year fellowship in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy at the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal. In 1994, she joined the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Université de Montréal as assistant professor and, since then was promoted to associate professor and finally professor in 2007. In 2007, she was also appointed as Associate Dean Undergraduate Studies.

3. Research area

Over the past 20 years, she has conducted animal and clinical research in the area of acute coronary syndrome and more specifically regarding the pharmacodynamics effects of antiplatelet agents in the setting of coronary artery disease.
