1. Current Status, Position

Dr Nievergelt is currently Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UCSD, Associate Director of the Neuroscience Unit of the Center of Excellence for Stress and Mental Health (CESAMH) and co-PI of the CESAMH Biobank at the San Diego Veterans Health Administration (VA). She is Principal Investigator of two large consortia projects and leading the statistical analyses of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) for PTSD.

2. Education

Dr Nievergelt studied biology at the University of Zurich and obtained a PhD in biological anthropology in 1996. She completed her post-doctoral training in population genetics and human genetics at the University of California San Diego.

3. Research Area

Dr Nievergelt’s research focuses on identifying and understanding the relationship between genetic risk, and biological and environmental factors that are involved in the etiology of psychiatric disorders and in therapeutic response during psychopharmacological treatment.
