1. Current Status, Position

Assoc. Prof. Dzintars Mozgis MD., PhD. is currently a Deputy Director of the Center for Diseases Prevention and Control, Latvia and he also works in the public health and epidemiology department at Riga Stradins University. He is responsible for prevention and control mostly of noncommunicable diseases, health promotion and health care management.  

2. Education

Assoc. Prof. Mozgis studied at Medical Institute in Riga and became a paediatrician in 1982. In 1987, he obtained specialty – paediatric surgery, but in 2004. a PhD in paediatric surgery at Riga Stradins University for his work in research of anorectal malformations. From 1995 until 2010, he served as CEO at University Children Hospital in Riga. 

3. Research Area

Assoc. Prof. Mozgis’ research focuses on health care management, history of medicine, paediatric surgery, public health and comparative trends in the consumption of drugs.
