1. Current Status, Position

Irene Krämer, Pharm. D., Ph. D. is currently employed as the Director of the Pharmacy Department at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz Germany. In addition she holds a professorship for Clinical Pharmacy at the Institute of Pharmacy of the Johannes Gutenberg-University and teaches Clinical Pharmacy.

2. Education

Irene Krämer graduated in Pharmacy in 1982 and received the German Pharmaceutical license. From 1982 to 1986 she did her Ph.D. studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and completed a doctoral thesis in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. In 1988 she finished her postgraduate education at the Johannes Gutenberg University Hospital, Mainz and obtained the German board certification in Clinical Pharmacy. During the following years she specialized in oncology pharmacy.
In 1999 she completed her postdoctoral thesis in Pharmaceutical Technology. Incidentally she was appointed as Associate Professor for Clinical Pharmacy at the Institute of Pharmacy at the Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz. Since 2006 she holds a full professorship in Clinical Pharmacy.

3. Research Area

Her special interests include oncology pharmacy, biopharmaceuticals and biosimilars, aseptic drug preparation and patient oriented care. She is doing research projects in the field of physicochemical and microbiological stability of ready-to-use antineoplastic drug solutions, compatibility of admixtures of nebulizer solutions and Good Preparation Practice of parenterals. In the field of patient oriented care she does research projects regarding patient counselling, discharge medication and electronic monitoring of medication compliance. 

Conflict of interest: She is a speaker for Roche, Advisory board member for Amgen and Speaker and Advisory Board member for Sanofi.
