Keynote 1: The Hospital Pharmacist’s Impact on Patient Care

1. Current Status, Position

Hospital pharmacist with consulting and faculty responsibilities in developing clinical pharmacy services, pharmacy department operations, strategic planning and development of leadership skills.  Also is involved with international student and pharmacist exchange and clinical training and education. She holds a faculty appointment at the University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy since 1988 and has been tenured since 1992. She was Vice President of Pharmacy Services for a multi hospital system in Cincinnati, OH, and a Director of Pharmacy Services at an academic medical center hospital.

  • Bachelor of Science (BS). in Pharmacy from University of Wisconsin (Madison, WI)
  • Pharm.D, Masters in Public Health (MPH) from University of Washington (Seattle, WA)
  • Executive Leadership Certificate, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA)

3. Research Area

Her research has been in clinical practice and training pharmacy residents after they received their Pharm. D. degree, in utilizing innovative technologies such as bar code, computerized physician order entry and video imaging to improve workflow and decrease injectable drug waste in hospital pharmacies. She has done a considerable number of lectures regarding leadership skills as an invited lecturer and as part of her university responsibilities and has helped pharmacy departments and pharmacy associations develop their strategic plan.
