The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.

1. Current Status, Position
Since 2002, Dr Melo Gouveia is Head pharmacist of the hospital pharmacy of Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa (the Portuguese Institute for Oncology of Lisbon), Vice-President of the Health Technology Assesment Committee (CATS – Comissao de Avaliacao de Tecnologias em Saude) in the Portuguese Regulatory Agency, INFARMED. He has been a Member of the Scientific Committee of EAHP since 2006.
2. Education
Antonio Melo Gouveia graduated from the faculty of pharmacy of the University of Lisbon in 1987. He was licensed as a specialist in hospital pharmacy from the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos (the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society) in 1998. Previously he worked as a hospital pharmacist in the Portuguese navy hospital, and also in the medicinal products assessment department in the Portuguese Medicines Agency, INFARMED. In this role he was a member of several European working groups in the regulatory area.
3. Research Area
His main interest is hospital pharmacy practice, with a focus on oncology pharmacy. Other areas are access to new drugs, approval and pricing system, formulary policy, regulatory affairs.
