1. Current Status, Position

Prof Dr Glen Schumock (PharmD, MBA, PhD) is Professor and Head of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy Department, in the College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois, Chicago.

For the first half of his 30-year career he held clinical pharmacist and managerial positions in hospital pharmacy, and since 2000 has been in academia. From 2002-2013 he was Director of the University of Illinois, Chicago Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research.

2. Education

Prof Dr Schumock has degrees from Washington State University (B Pharm), the University of Washington (Pharm D), and the University of Illinois, Chicago (M.B.A., and Ph.D.-Epidemiology).

3. Research Area

Prof Dr Schumock’s interests include the economic impact, clinical effectiveness, and safety of pharmaceuticals and related services or policies.  He has authored and edited over 200 articles and books, and is on the editorial board of several journals (Pharmacotherapy, PharmacoEconomics, and the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research). In 2014 he received the Award for Sustained Contribution to the Literature from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacist Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
