1. Current Status, Position

Dr Monica Dias is currently a Policy and Crisis Coordinating Officer working in the Office of the Deputy Executive Director at EMA. She coordinates the Brexit operational preparedness activities at EMA including the impact of Brexit on the availability of Centrally Authorised products (CAPs). Dr Dias is also coordinating at EMA the activities of the HMA/EMA Task Force on the availability of Auhtorised medicines. 

2. Education

Dr Monica Dias studied pharmacy at the University of Lisbon and became licensed pharmacist in 1995. In 2000 she obtained a PhD in pharmacy at Cardiff University for her work on the permeation of drugs through the skin. In 2000, Dr Dias joined Disperse Technologies Limited in Guildford, UK where she was involved in the research and development of a range of topical dosage forms. Dr. Dias joined the European Medicines Agency in London, UK in 2004. She worked in the Quality Office, Specialised Scientific Disciplines Department, for 10 years managing marketing authorisation applications and providing technical and scientific input to scientific advice procedures, paediatric investigation plans and referral procedures. In March 2013, she joined the Office of the Deputy Executive Director at EMA where she is now a Policy and Crisis Coordinating Officer.

3. Research Area

Dr Dias is Co-Chair of the Thematic Working Group 1 of the Task Force of availability of authorised medicines. Dr Dias is coordinating EMA activities in relation to the Brexit impact on the availability of Centrally Authorised Products.
