The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.

1. Current Status, Position
Ms Catherine Picton (BSc, MBA, FRPharmS) is an experienced healthcare and policy consultant who has worked with the Department of Health, NHS England, local and national NHS organisations, professional bodies and organisations, and health policy think tanks. Currently Professional Secretary to the RPS Hospital Expert Advisory Group, lead author of the RPS professional standards for hospital pharmacy teams and supporting the update of the guidance for the safe and secure handling of medicines.
2. Education
Ms Catherine Picton works as an independent health and policy consultant, authored and co-authored an extensive range of reports, policy guidance and tools that support health policy implementation. She is co-author of Now or Never: Shaping Pharmacy for the Future (2013) the report of an independent commission into future models of care delivered through pharmacy and Now More than Ever: why pharmacy needs to act (2014) the Nuffield Trusts review of progress toward the recommendations made in the Now or Never report. More recently a member of the advisory group supporting an independent review of community pharmacy clinical services by the director of policy at The Kings Fund.
Previously, Managing Editor of Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin. Prior to that, worked as a practice research and hospital pharmacist.
3. Research Area
Since 2000, Catherine has been the lead author of the Prescribing Competency Frameworks that support all prescribers to develop and maintain prescribing competency. She retains an active interest in this area.
