The silver jubilee of EAHP’s annual congress is fast approaching. The 25th edition will bring together hospital pharmacists from all over the world. Between 25th to 27th March 2020 they and their desire to learn more about “Hospital Pharmacy 5.0 – the future of patient care” will be taking over the city of Gothenburg.
Under the lead of Thomas De Rijdt, EAHP’s Scientific Committee has prepared an innovative Congress programme that puts patients and digital health front and centre. The keynotes of EAHP’s anniversary congress, will provide participants with insights on the latest developments in the fields of artificial intelligence, pharmacy prescribing and digitalisation. Other subjects, such as for example telepharmacy and 3D printing, that will influence the work of hospital pharmacists in the foreseeable future, as well as antimicrobial resistance and medicines shortages will be addressed in seminars, also with a focus on the provision of optimal outcomes for patients.
When setting up the programme, the Scientific Committee has not forgotten about the next generation. Like every year, EAHP is organising a session dedicated to students and young professionals which this time will look at different aspects of healthcare professionals’ collaboration. In addition, the Student Science Award will be presented to recognise the best scientific research authored by a pharmacy student or recent graduate in the field of hospital pharmacy.
Workshops will help hospital pharmacists with designing elevator pitches, career planning and engaging in critical care multidisciplinary teams. Moreover, tools such as those relevant for clinical prioritisation to improve patient care and the different approaches to pharmacy prescribing will be explored. EAHP’s Synergy Satellite events are complementing the well-rounded programme by providing insights on cutting edge innovation in service delivery and patient care. In 2020 emphasis will be put on oncology biosimilars and antithrombotic stewardship during the following Synergy sessions:
- Oncology biosimilars – Hospital pharmacists making the difference (sponsored by an educational grant from Amgen)
- The Hospital Pharmacist’s role in antithrombotic stewardship (sponsored by an educational grant from Bayer)
From next year onwards, tribute will be paid to hospital pharmacists that have contributed to the implementation of the European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy. The most outstanding project will consequently be rewarded with the Implementation Award. For people interested in the topic of medicines shortages, EAHP will be releasing a first glimpse on the results of EAHP’s 2019 Medicines Shortages Survey.
Since fun should not be neglected at #EAHP2020, a scavenger hunt has been set up to guide participants through the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. The winner will receive a free registration to EAHP’s congress in 2021. Also, the FUN run, supporting children with cancer, will be returning on Friday morning for those that don’t mind an early start.
Registration is possible via EAHP’s website. Participants that sign up by 31st January 2019 will profit from a reduced registration rate.
