Pharmaceutical Association of Serbia is a voluntary, independent professional association of pharmacists, organized and regulated under the Act of Pharmaceutical Society. The purposes of the Association are improving professional and scientific work in pharmacy, providing professional information and education for pharmacists and promoting the ethical, responsible and competent professional activities of the members.
The mission of Pharmaceutical Association of Serbia is connecting pharmacists involved in:
- the healthcare system;
- medicines and medical devices manufacturing and distribution;
- education, research and development in pharmacy for health promotion, disease prevention and well-being for both individuals and society at large.
SFUS represents 4,500 members including 200 hospital pharmacists working in 65 hospital pharmacies.
Specialisations programmes of 3 years are possible in Serbia, but a hospital pharmacy specialisation it is not required to practice as a hospital pharmacist. The majority of hospital pharmacists posses a specialisation in pharmacotherapy, pharmaceutical care, pharmaceutical technology and medicines quality assurance, pharmacoeconomics and clinical pharmacy.
The key features of the Clinical pharmacy and Pharmacotherapy specialisations are advanced education and training with an emphasis on the clinical competencies necessary to practice in team-based environments in order to deliver comprehensive medication management that optimizes patient outcomes.
The key features of the Pharmaceutical technology and Medicines quality assurance specialisations are gaining the skills and competences in the preparation of galenic products including sterile compounding and aseptic technique.
Academic specialisations in Pharmaceutical care and Pharmacoeconomics with a minimum time of 1 to 1,5 years for specialisation training are complementary to the aforementioned.
