HTA

Commission HTA proposal
As mentioned during the last Board meeting the European Commission published a draft legislative proposal concerning HTA on 31st of January. I asked Gunar to have a look at the proposal. He promised to do it but has postponed his delivery deadline several times, since he is very busy.
Several European associations have put out a statement:

HTA Stakeholder Group
The HTA Stakeholder Group has been fairly quiet. Some have circulated brief comments on the HTA proposal:

Moreover, some HTA Stakeholder Group members, especially Daniel Widmer, are actively involved in the planning of the next EUnetHTA meeting.

Commission meeting on HTA
Commissioner Andriukaitis sent an invitation regarding a meeting on the HTA proposal. He would like to exchange views on 3rd May from 9.00 to 11.00 with stakeholders. See letter HERE

So far EAHP has not formed an opinion on the HTA legislative proposal (see text HERE). However, in 2016 we inputted to the public consultation on HTA (see HERE). At that time we stated the following in relation to the considerations of the Commission to publish a legislative proposal on HTA:

  • EAHP supports the Commission’s efforts to strengthen the cooperation between member states in the field of HTA;
  • Healthcare professionals should be involved in the discussions on HTA;
  • Skills and expertise of hospital pharmacists should be utilised;
  • The process should be transparent.
