The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.
8.5.4 Policy on charitable donations
Related to January 2014 Board Meeting, agenda item 8.5.4
The June 2013 Board meeting, having received a request for EAHP to support a charitable project, determined that EAHP should develop internal policy on this matter to support transparent and reasoned decision-making. The action was delegated to the Director of Finances and the Policy and Advocacy Officer.
The following draft policy has been developed and is tabled for discussion and decision at the January 2014 Board meeting.
Draft internal policy on supporting charitable organisations and projects (January 2014)

The January 2014 Board Minutes record: “RP introduced a draft EAHP policy on charitable donations which had been actioned by the June 2013 Board Meeting in response to an external request on this topic. RP had worked with TW and JDG in its development. The general tenure of the policy was supported, however suggestions were made for reordering with the sentence ‘Due to its own non-profit status, EAHP does not make direct contributions to charitable organisations’ stated clearly from the outset.
TW referenced a potential scenario whereby EAHP may be working with aligned organisations under a charitable umbrella. The policy should make allowance for this situation.”
It appears from the April Board Minutes that this issue was not in fact returned to.
An amended draft of EAHP’s charitable policy is therefore created here, reflecting the January 2014 discussions, and for fresh consideration by the Board.
