Journal highlights – HPs and patients undergoing assisted reproduction techniques

The European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy recently published research from the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche  in Milan on the chemical stability and sterility of a diluted, ready-to-use solution of epinephrine for premature neonatal emergencies.
The results of the study found that diluted epinephrine solution in samples stored at room temperature for up to 24 weeks contained 90%–98% of the freshly prepared dilution with samples stored at 2–8°C showing no degradation.
The study authors conclude that diluted epinephrine solution stored at room temperature or at 2–8°C is chemically stable and sterile for 24 weeks and the preparation is fully acceptable for intravenous and endotracheal administration in preterm neonates.
