EAHP joins calls for protection of health budgets

EAHP has teamed up with 65 health organisations, industry associations, and civil society groups, to call on EU Governments to protect spending on essential health services.
The initiative, led by the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), complied a wide range of signatories to an open letter to EU leaders ahead of a summit meeting on the economic crisis.
The letter, whilst acknowledging scope for efficiencies existed, noted that investment in health should be acknowledged as a contributor to economic growth. Furthermore, drastic cuts in health spending can be a false economy, leading to later detection of diseases and lost workforce productivity.

The letter was also supported from 9 MEPs from most political groups within the European Parliament.

Problems caused by shortages are serious, threaten patient care and require urgent action.

Help us provide an overview of the scale of the problem, as well as insights into the impact on overall patient care.

Our aim is to investigate the causes of medicine and medical device shortages in the hospital setting,  while also gathering effective solutions and best practices implemented at local, regional, and national levels.
