The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.

1. Current Status, Position
Dr Antonio Gouveia is currently Director of the Pharmaceutical Service of a specialised oncology hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. He’s responsible for the management of the hospital pharmacy, including procurement. Antonio Gouveia is also a member of several committees in the Portuguese medicines agency, INFARMED, being vice-president of the health technology assessment committee. He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the EAHP from 2006 until this year.
2. Education
Dr Antonio Gouveia got his degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon in 1987. He had several post graduate courses in management and regulatory affairs in Portuguese universities. He first worked as a pharmacist at the Portuguese Navy Hospital, then worked as director for medicines evaluation at the Portuguese medicines agency – INFARMED and has been chief pharmacist in the Portuguese Institute of Oncology since 2002.
3. Research Area
His main interest are hospital pharmacy management and procurement, hospital pharmacists qualification.
