Abstract
For many ones of the most significant life events, a career is left to chance. We may start well, a degree in pharmacy followed by hospital specialisation. After which our career and development are left to chance. Yet, It is possible to actively design your career pathway.

In this workshop, you will be led through constructing an active work portfolio beginning with a competency framework. Then layering on relevant experience from your own day-to-day work. Followed by identifying supporting education, training courses and programs, as well as any potential issues that might be raised with a mentor.

Finally, examples of building a competency-experience future pathway will be developed.

Learning objectives
After the workshop, participants should be able to:
• practice using a competency framework;
• assemble a dynamic work portfolio;
• construct an active career pathway.

Educational need addressed
Pharmacists seldom have a proactive career development strategy as addressed in detail in seminar ER1. Careers, development and postqualification education usually occurs in a random manner.

In this workshop, participants will experience a constructive proactive approach to building a competency-based work portfolio that generates an organised approach to personal career development, aligning immediate career needs with future aspirations, linking competency development, experience, mentoring and educational needs

Keywords: guided self-assessment, experience, mentoring, linked education, structured career, development, portfolio creation, peer review, qualifications, CTF, learning from patients’ cases, professional well-being, management, communication.

EAHP Forum

All the EAHP team is working on providing a Forum that can help connect all the members in Conversations and Groups to talk about important matters for the European Hospital Pharmacist.

The Forum will be accessible for all the EAHP members, you don’t have to create a new account to browse and participate.

Conversations and groups

The Conversations will be moderated by our team to provide documents and relevant topics for the community.

The Groups will connect all members that share a category. Members who work on the same assocation, on the same hospital, that have the same role, etc.

Stay tuned for the realase of the forum. Soon on EAHP.
