Abstract:

Context:

Since the early days of the management of HIV patients, tremendous progress has been made. Increasingly longer life expectancy is obviously a bonus to patients and doctors, but it comes with increased risk of side effects and other difficulties associated with taking medications for long periods of time. This seminar will try to answer two questions: what do patients want/need from hospital pharmacists and what do pharmacists provide in the way of education and services in this area?

Teaching Goals:

The presentation will focus on:

  • having an overview of education of HIV patient
  • understanding the evidence of pharmaceutical care in controlling HIV+/AIDS disease
  • increasing the awareness of the role of hospital pharmacist
  • presenting the different steps of an education programme

Learning objectives:

After the seminar the participants should be able to:

  • identify patient needs
  • understand methods/tools of education that can be used
  • understand that education needs a partnership with the patient and other caregivers
  • set up outcomes within an education programme

Deadline extended to July 15th

Problems caused by shortages are serious, threaten patient care and require urgent action.

Help us provide an overview of the scale of the problem, as well as insights into the impact on overall patient care.

Our aim is to investigate the causes of medicine and medical device shortages in the hospital setting,  while also gathering effective solutions and best practices implemented at local, regional, and national levels.
