Abstract:
In Italy, Health System Pharmacists (e.g., pharmacists working in hospitals and in the pharmaceutical districts) are providing care and pharmaceutical services along all the country. Since 1952, health system pharmacists are sharing their experiences under the umbrella of their scientific society, the Italian Society of Health System Pharmacists, Società Italiana di Farmacia Ospedaliera e dei Servizi Farmaceutici Territoriali, SIFO. The Italian network has consolidated its activities in a interdisciplinary mode. During the seminar, Italian hospital pharmacists will cover a broad range of different topics, exemplifying areas of continuous interest, ongoing change, steady development and existing uncertainty. After an excursus on the Italian health care system organization and the role of health system pharmacists, you will hear insights about post graduate pharmacy education and the new training program for the hospital pharmacy specialization; news on a recent model of ward pharmacist in the oncology area; the way of approaching continuity of care both from the hospital and the outpatient setting; the experience of new technologies evaluation aiming at providing the best care for the patient.
