Abstract:

Shifting Paradigms for Critically Ill Patients with Gram-negative Infections:
Redefining Treatment Strategies

This satellite symposium addresses the challenges posed by antibiotic therapy in the critically ill, particularly regarding the treatment of gram negative infections. It takes a patient-centric approach to the individualization of treatment approaches by considering local ecology, risk factors, clinical symptoms, co-morbidities, guidelines, real world evidence and antimicrobial stewardship principals. Additionally, it will cover how the microbiology lab can be used to enhance antimicrobial stewardship, and discuss emerging therapies for high risk patients.

Problems caused by shortages are serious, threaten patient care and require urgent action.

Help us provide an overview of the scale of the problem, as well as insights into the impact on overall patient care.

Our aim is to investigate the causes of medicine and medical device shortages in the hospital setting,  while also gathering effective solutions and best practices implemented at local, regional, and national levels.
