1. Current position

Henk Scheepers (PhD, PharmD.) is Coordinating Specialist Senior Inspector.

2. Education

Henk Scheepers is a PhD and PharmD. He has 14 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1998 he joined the Dutch Health Care Inspectorate at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. In his current position of Coordinating Specialist Senior Inspector he is responsible for GMP surveillance of pharmaceutical companies as well as pharmacies and hospital pharmacies specialised in the preparation and distribution of medicinal products and automated dose dispensing. In May 2017 he obtained his PhD grade at the University of Maastricht, The Netherlands (title of the thesis: “pharmacy preparations; European quality standards and regulation”). 

3. Research area

In 2008 he became the nominated delegate of the Netherlands for the Committee of Experts on Quality and Safety Standards in Pharmaceutical Practices and Pharmaceutical Care at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. As a rapporteur he was responsible for the regulation work in the areas of pharmacy preparation for the special needs of patients and the reconstitution of parenteral medicines, respectively. For both areas consensus could be obtained at the Council of Europe about (draft) resolutions containing harmonised quality and safety standards. The Resolutions were adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in 2011 and 2016, respectively (Resolution CM/ResAP(2011)1; Resolution CM/Res(2016)2).
In 2016 he became the chairman of the aforementioned Committee of Experts at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
