1. Current Status, Position

Dr Suzanne Rose Hill (B.Med.(Hons), PhD) is Director, Essential Medicines and Health Products, World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland.

Prior to this appointment, she was Chair of the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Committee from September 2011-March 2015, as well as Visiting Professor at the University of Melbourne Medical School. Dr Hill also worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland from 2005-2011, as Secretary to the WHO Expert Committee on Essential Medicines, responsible for the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines and its implementation in countries. She was principle investigator for the WHO project on Better Medicines for Children. She was the foundation chair of the WHO Guideline Review Committee, setting up standards for guideline development by WHO. Before working for WHO, Dr Suzanne Rose Hill was Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Newcastle, Australia, directing a group providing pharmaeconomics advice to the PBAC.

2. Education

Dr Suzanne Hill, B.Med (Hons), Grad Dip Epi, PhD, FAFPHM, is a clinical pharmacologist and public health physician, trained at the University of Newcastle, Australia and currently Director of the Essential Medicines and Health Products Department in the World Health Organization. 

3. Research Area

Dr Suzanne Hill’s research interests are related to the public health and policy aspects of clinical pharmacology, including access to medicines and use of pharmaeconomics and clinical evidence in decision-making.
