The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.

1. Current Status, Position
Uwe Frank, MD, PHD, is Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Medical School, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany, and Director of Studies (DoS) at the Institute of Environmental Medicine and Hospital Epidemiology, Freiburg, Germany. He was Work Package leader in the European IPSE/HELICS project (Improving Patient Safety in Europe/ Hospital in Europe Link for Infection Control through Surveillance), coordinator of the BURDEN project (Burden of Resistance and Disease in European Nations), and is currently coordinator of the IMPLEMENT project (Implementing Strategic Bundles for Infection Prevention and Management), all of them financed by the EU Commission Directorate- General for Health and Consumer Protection (DGSANCO). Future actions aim at the development of best strategies for quality improvement and patient safety in European healthcare systems.
