Abstract

Publishing your research work is of major importance for the development of the profession and for one’s own personal development. It is acknowledged that research methods and related scientific writing methods teaching are currently lacking in the pharmacy curriculum. Reporting original research in journals, through scientific papers in standard format, requires training to overcome the barriers that face pharmacists. In this workshop, the facilitators invite the participants to send (prior to the workshop) a draft publication they are intending to submit. During the 3 hours of the workshop, the facilitators will then guide participants towards a successful publication. To do so, they will consider – the 4 questions: What was the question? (the introduction); How did you design the study? (the methods); What did you find? (the results); What does it mean? (the discussion), – the title that should be a message (with the main results?), – the formatting, the references, and other items (authors, contributors, disclosure, acknowledgments, contributors, funding) that should be adapted to the journal. – the choice of a journal and the cover letter.

Learning objectives

After the workshop, the participant should be able to:
• recognize the keys to improving a draft research paper;
• submit in a timely process a paper to a pharmacy journal, and deal with editors’ and reviewers’ comments.
