1. Current Status, Position

Dr. Sam Finnikin is a general practitioner at Sutton Coldfield Group Practice in the West Midlands (England). He works for NHS England and NHS Improvement as a National Clinical Specialty Advisor in Personalised Care and Cardiovascular Disease and is a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham.

2. Education

Dr. Sam Finnikin completed his postgraduate medical degree at the University of Birmingham in 2007. He gained his Certificate of Completion of Training in general practice in 2015 and an MSc in Primary Care and Clinical Sciences in the same year. 

3. Research Area

Dr. Sam Finnikin’s research focuses on shared decision making and the use of risk scoring and risk communication in clinical consultations. Much of his research has focused on the use of statins for the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease.
