The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.
Policy & advocacy – February 2019
As mentioned under agenda points 5.2 and 5.4, the shortages and the ageing society Board leads are planning to update the existing position papers.
Ageing society position paper
The ageing society position paper will undergo a technical update (see current version HERE). This means that mainly layout changes will be made. In addition, the Board leads will try to include information on current initiatives that are ongoing in the field and that are worth mentioning.
The need for review was triggered by the comments of the EJHP editors which advised against the publication of ‘old’ position papers. In addition, we have still not used the full potential of the position paper since it was not promoted to the fullest extend after its publication in 2016. Given that the position is now almost 3 years old and that many developments happened in the past year, a small technical review is advisable.
Medicines shortages position paper
Our current version (see HERE) was adopted in 2012. Consequently, the document lacks reference to our shortages surveys and recent developments such as the EMA/HMA task force and the COST action on medicines shortages. The update will be used to incorporate these elements into the paper. An updated position is needed since medicines shortages is one of our key policy.
