1. Current Status, Position

Dr Gillespie is Senior Clinical Pharmacist, responsible for the development and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services in the county of Uppsala, Sweden.

2. Education

Dr Gillespie is a Swedish pharmacist with an MSc in Pharmacy from Uppsala University, an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy from University of Strathclyde in Scotland and with many years of experience working as a pharmacist in inter-professional teams, in primary and secondary care settings. During this time, she has combined clinical practice with teaching and clinical research at Uppsala University. She finished her PhD in Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Biosciences with the topic Effects of clinical pharmacists’ intervention on drug-related hospitalisation and appropriateness of prescribing in elderly patients in March 2012. During 2014, she held a position as a post-doctoral fellow at CT Lamont Centre for Primary Health Care Research in Ottawa, Canada. Her research project in Ottawa focused on understanding the role of pharmacists, integrated in Family Health Teams.

3. Research Area

Dr. Gillespie is working with integrated medicines management, focusing on elderly patients with multiple conditions and polypharmacy. She is interested in pharmacy practice research, appropriateness of prescribing and quality indicators.
