The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.

1) CTF
Relaunch of activities
- GML is working on relaunching the activities. A call will be organised with AB to discuss WG3’s activities. The Steering Committee will be updated. WG1 already received the updated excel with the questions on the national programmes to determine which questions should be prioritised.
Request EUPLMG
- SK is still waiting for feedback from EUPLMG (request for virtual call dates in the 1st half of September). Should another reminder be sent? Or should we propose 2 to 3 dates?
2) Policy updates
Virtual meeting with the Commissioner
- The virtual meeting with the Health Commissioner will take place on 22 September from 11.45 to 12.30. @ PH – shall AB and AS join as well?
- Discussion items include the following: medicines shortages, workforce planning of healthcare professionals, including hospital pharmacists, education of hospital pharmacists, good practices of hospital pharmacists (in particular those outlined in EAHP’s European Statements of Hospital Pharmacy), the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) and hazardous drugs
FIP
- Council Meeting: @ AB – do you need any assistance with preparing for the FIP council meeting?
- Meeting with FIP President: @ PH – before the summer holidays we had considered organising a face-to-face meeting with FIP’s President in Brussels on 30 September. Should this be changed to a virtual meeting?
Pharmaceutical strategy – EAHP response
- The draft response is ready (see HERE). SK has shared the document the rest of the Board to get their input and with ECHO.
ESOP – MoU: next steps

EPSA Methodology booklet endorsement request
- EPSA has shared their Methodology Booklet Annex 1 on Soft Skills (see HERE) for endorsement. The request was shared with the Board.
Request from ADKA
- In response to the feedback on the GA, ADKA requested a discussion on shortages (see email HERE). Given that we wanted to talk to them about the DE Council presidency activities, would you be ok with me organising a call with them? I would also involve the shortage leads.
EMA – Clinical Trial Information System group
- @ PH – JP asked me to check with you if you are still fine with the arrangement that Francesca checks the agenda and joins the meetings if relevant (see email HERE). Please note that Francesca was not very responsive throughout 2020 and the last to meetings were joined by PP/SK.
Research Interview about the EU’s COVID-19 management

PGEU – supply chain stakeholders exchange of views
- @ PH – in case you have not seen it already, PGEU shared a doodle to organise another supply chain stakeholders exchange of views on COVID-19 with the presidents of industry/wholesale and pharmacy organisations.
EAHP-ESCP webinar to discuss COVID-19 videos
- A webinar will be organised on 29 October to share “Practical examples of Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy Services for COVID-19 patients”. It will be hosted jointly by EAHP and ESCP. Three video creators from the EAHP-ESCP video initiative will be invited to share more about their experience. The webinar will be part of a series organised by ESCP in the fall. Could we promote the entire series (see more information HERE)
Update on EMA activities and requests
- COVID-19 pool: Another reminder will be sent to members in September.
- COVID-19 expert nomination: PP was nominated but the committee did not select her
- EMA virtual Workshop on benefit-risk of medicines used during pregnancy and breastfeeding (22 September): PP will attend
- EMA virtual annual training day: name of the EAHP attendee can be shared after the GA.
FMD aggregation survey
- The aggregation survey (access the survey HERE) for the discussion with EMVO will be launched on 31 August after 5 PM. It will stay open until 30 September (with the possibility to encourage members at the GA to provide final input until Sunday, 4 October)
HTA – Stakeholder Network
- COM is considering to hold a meeting on 27 October. It was agreed with Gunar (who is our representative) and the HTA leads that SK will join.
COVID-19 survey
- The draft survey is ready. 8 countries shared translations (Greece, Hungary, Italy, North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania Serbia and Slovakia). The office created translations into French, German and Spanish. The different language versions of the survey are being created in SurveyMonkey, the survey will be launched on 16 September.
Zooming in on shortages webinar series
- Affordable Medicines Europe has re-designed the idea of a joint meeting with ministers on shortages. Instead webinar series will be organised in fall to zoom in on specific aspects. EAHP, GIRP, PGEU, EPHA/Affordable Medicines Europe will host a webinar each. The topics include monitoring (GIRP), prevention plans/risk assessments (EAHP), substitution (PGEU), diversification and API supply (Affordable Medicines Europe/EPHA). Affordable Medicines Europe will pay the majority of the organising costs (total 23.000 Euro due to engaging a communication organisation that will help with everything). Each organisation was asked to contribute as much as they can/want. It was agreed with AS to pay for ½ of a webinar, meaning 2800 Euros.
NEW: INI Report – additional advocacy work
- SK exchanged with the shortage leads on an additional advocacy suggestion from France Assos Sante. Before the final vote in the EP on the INI Report, France Assos Sante would like to approach MEPs to ask them to change the order of points 1 and 3 so that patients are named first. They are looking for supports. @ PH – what is your view on this? AB asked to involve you (see email HERE).
NEW: EFA request: World Atopic Eczema Day
- The European Federation of Allergies and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations (EFA) reached out about their World Atopic Eczema Day campaign which can be joined online. We did not engage in the past in this. Ok if we don’t engage?
NEW: meeting with BSMA
- IQVIA had contacted us in February about meeting with BSMA. It took them until now to get back (see email HERE). @ PH – Do you want me to get in touch with the president of BSMA? In February when we emailed about this and you suggested to request further information about BSMA which IQVIA now sent.

Preparation of policy discussion
- SK is working on the preparation of the policy discussion for the next Board meeting. @ PH and AB do you have any specific points that should be added?
Future position papers
- SK is putting together an overview of position papers that could/should be updated. @ PH – the EAHP Guidance on the Pharmacy Handling of Gene Medicines which was published in 2007 in the EJHP will be included.
President’s Guests for Vienna Congress
- Please find HERE the draft suggestions. I re-used the list from 2020. The organisations highlighted in orange were newly added. he contacts still need to be updated. In addition please note that Andreas Walter (General Manager of EMVO) inquired about the possibility of meeting with members of the EAHP Board in Vienna since he is planning to attend the Congress. @ PH – provided you want to consider this, I would put him on the list for meetings.
