The EAHP Board, elected for three-year terms, oversees the association’s activities. Comprising directors responsible for core functions, it meets regularly to implement strategic goals. Supported by EAHP staff, the Board controls finances, coordinates congress organization, and ensures compliance with statutes and codes of conduct.
10.5 AMR
Return to January 2016 Board Agenda here.
a) Revision of the EU Action Plan on AMR
The European Commission is currently conducting an exercise to revise the EU Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance. Tajda is currently our lead representative, responding for the organisation to the current consultation survey, and will attend the arising workshop meeting in February.
b) Revision of ECDC hospital toolkit
Tajda attended the annual ECDC antibiotic awareness day event in Brussels in November. Report here.
Of key interest for EAHP is ECDC’s intention to revise its toolkit materials for hospitals in 2016, which, by their own admission, are very prescriber focused. Current toolkit here. We await further details on the review, but they wish to involve EAHP, and we have expressed our desire to do so.
c) Netherlands Presidency and AMR
The Netherlands Presidency of the EU Council January to July pledges in its programme to put the issue of antimicrobial resistance onto the agenda of the Council which may result in fresh EU recommendations in the area. I am making contact with other European stakeholder organisation as to the opportunities to influence this process positively e.g. prospectively have European recommendations covering the role of pharmacists and hospital pharmacists in achieving better stewarship and prudent use.
d) Other
To note European Medicines Agency consultation on the 2016-2020 strategy of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use on antimicrobials. Deadline 29 February. Consultation here.
