EAHP announces new ‘Good Practice Initiatives’ Congress section

Hospital pharmacists encouraged to share their successes

7TH OCTOBER 2013

EAHP has today announced it is creating a new section of its annual Congress titled ‘Good Practice Initiatives’ (GPIs). The section of the Congress will inspire hospital pharmacists to strive for the next high standard in practice by identifying how colleagues in other countries overcame commonly presented challenges to making improvement happen. The section will include a special poster display area and an oral presentation session. At the presentation sesson GPI leaders will share in more detail the achievements of their initiatives, and how hospital pharmacy colleagues might emulate and learn from their experiences.

The new Congress section builds on a previously announced project of EAHP to create an online inventory map of GPIs. However, in order for a GPI to be included within the 19th Congress of EAHP in Barcelona (26th to 28th March 2014) submissions must be made by 4th November 2013.

The submission portal is available here.

EAHP Director of Education, Science and Research, Cees Neef described the recent decision:

“Reviewing the GPIs already submitted, the EAHP Scientific Committee was impressed by both the range and quality of improvement endeavours taking place. We were therefore determined that the projects be shared as widely as possible. That is why we are now creating a new section of our Congress: to put recognised change-makers in the spotlight and to demonstrate that the obstacles everybody can face in the workplace when trying to make improvement CAN be overcome.

“Although the GPI submission portal will remain open well into 2014 as we build the online GPI map, we actively encourage colleagues to submit by 4th November 2013 in order to be displayed and highlighted at our next Congress.”
